The Hamlet's Farm

It's hard to imagine such animals living on the grounds of Versailles, yet Marie Antoinette would sometimes milk the cows herself here, playing at country life, and that milk occasionally made its way to the royal table. She had her own children experience farm life too, believing that exposure to sun and cold, and the sweat of real work, was what kept children healthy and happy.
