Booking ahead is not required, but Paris is the most visited city in the world and you may find there is barely enough time to take in its romance, so a reservation can save you time in queues. Many sites are free on the first Sunday of each month, so if one falls during your trip, factor it into your route and schedule.

Under "Learn more" at the bottom of each script in the app, you will find booking links, opening hours, admission fees and closing days for places that take reservations. Since many travelers will be using a Museum Pass, we also note whether it gets you in for free.

Always watch out for pickpockets. On the metro in particular, thieves often grab phones just before the doors close. Stay alert, because the moment you let your guard down you become a target.
