Grand Palais and Petit Palais
Paris · Paris, France
Near the Pont Alexandre III stand two beautiful buildings: the Grand Palais and the Petit Palais. Both have domed roofs and blend Classical and Art Nouveau styles, and both now house museums and galleries. Looking from the bridge, the Grand Palais is on the left and the Petit Palais on the right.
The Grand Palais on the left hosts a wide range of special exhibitions. The Petit Palais on the right is the City of Paris's fine arts museum. It holds paintings, sculpture and decorative arts from antiquity to the early 20th century, and admission is free, which makes it very popular. Works by famous artists such as Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet, Rodin, and Bourdelle add to its appeal.
It isn't just the exhibits: the palace interior is lovely too, and the inner courtyard feels like a secret garden. If you have time to spare in Paris, step inside the Petit Palais.
