Renoir, Peaches

This still life captures a fleeting moment of light falling on peaches through a blend of orange, yellow, and red. As in his other works, the fruit is rendered with crisp detail while the background dissolves into softness.

At the time this was painted, Renoir was exploring a new artistic direction and had begun working indoors far more often than outdoors.
