Three Ways to Get from Vernon Station to Giverny
Giverny · Paris, France
Once you arrive at Vernon station, there are three ways to reach Giverny.
The first is the shuttle bus. Leave the station and follow the footprints painted on the ground, and you'll reach the stop right away; just following the crowd works too. It costs €5 one way or €10 round trip, and you buy tickets from the driver. Compared with the mini train, the bus runs at more times of day, is more comfortable, has room for big bags and offers Wi-Fi. The ride takes about 20 minutes and drops you at a car park near Monet's house rather than right at the door. Follow the other passengers, and if nobody's around, look for the white signs posted all over the village.
The second is the little tourist train, whose cute name, "Givernon," blends Giverny and Vernon. It costs €4 one way or €8 round trip. It rattles along, but the open windows let you take in the Giverny scenery at a leisurely pace. It stops at the same place as the shuttle bus, and it gives commentary on the village in English and French. Tickets are sold by a vendor just outside the station.
The third is to walk. If you enjoy walking, it takes a relaxed hour and ten minutes or so. On a nice day, with plenty of time and a taste for the quiet French countryside, it's worth a try. If you want to give it a go, see the Google Maps link on the detail page.
