Monet's House: Exterior and Route
Giverny · Paris, France
Monet's house is a harmony of pink and green, like a flower among blades of grass. Even those pinks and greens were reportedly chosen by Monet himself. Windows of the time were usually gray, so he seems to have had a sense of style ahead of his era.
Facing the house from the front, the left side of the entrance was Monet's space and the right side belonged to the family. The visit begins at the left of the ground floor, which Monet used as a studio and reception room. From there you go up to the first floor to see Monet's bedroom, then move to the right to see the rooms of the Hoschedé daughters, and finish back on the ground floor with the dining room and kitchen on the right before exiting. Once you've passed through a room, it's hard to go back, so make sure you've seen everything before moving on.
