Goldenberg Deli
Le Marais · Paris, France
A little way along, on the left, you'll see a yellow building with a "Goldenberg Deli" sign. This Jewish restaurant at 7 Rue des Rosiers was the scene of a terrorist attack on August 9, 1982. The deli had been well known in the Marais, but it closed after the attack.
The Goldenberg attack was one of several terrorist incidents that struck Paris in the 1980s and '90s. Gunmen opened fire and threw bombs, killing six Parisians and wounding 22. After more than 30 years of persistent investigation, French authorities issued international arrest warrants in 2015 for suspects living in places such as Jordan, Palestine and Norway.
