A Sweet Stop in the 7th: Caramel Paris
Les Invalides · Paris, France
France is a land of fine food, and especially famous for sweet desserts. To help you recharge after exploring the sprawling, maze-like Les Invalides, here's a dessert shop in Paris's 7th arrondissement you can visit on your way out: Caramel Paris.
It's on the left as you leave the main gate of Les Invalides. From La Tour-Maubourg metro station, the nearest stop, walk one block to the left and you'll find it quickly. It's open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., closes at 7 p.m. on Sundays and is closed on Mondays. Many Paris attractions, museums and galleries included, and plenty of shops close on Mondays or Tuesdays, so check ahead.
As the name suggests, the specialty is caramel desserts. The owner is said to have worked as a chef at Ladurée, among France's top macaron makers, before opening a shop of their own. The caramel tart piled high with nuts and the lemon tart are the favorites, so if you get the chance, treat yourself to a sweet tart.
There's also seating where you can eat in. Note that eating at a table rather than taking out comes with a seating charge. When you leave, you'll see the Eiffel Tower down the street, and a photo from here has a different feel from one taken right beneath it. Why not snap one?
